In many industries, seasonal trends with highs and lows can be observed. For instance, the Back-to-School season is second only to the Holiday season in terms of retail sales. The day after Thanksgiving, also known as Black Friday, is regarded as the unofficial start of the holiday season in the US. It is also referred to as the store’s first profit of the year due to the surge in retail traffic. Event planning also has seasonal trends. According to Eventective, three distinct periods of the year can be identified when the organization’s event planning displays upward trends. These include the spring, autumn, and winter.

Late winter and the start of spring are typically the most prominent times when event planning begins. This period is also when people start planning their summer vacations. For instance, many people plan to hold large and small graduation parties for their friends and family. This is the time when outdoor venues and resorts can fill their summer dates.

Although summer typically brings in steady business, the number of inbound requests during this period decreases comparatively due to people taking breaks and going on vacations. However, once summer ends, the event planning industry begins to slow before another seasonal rise in September and October. This holiday season is also when people start planning their year-end celebrations. This is the time when many companies and individuals start looking forward to the festivities brought by the changing seasons. Over the next couple of months, requests for holiday party planning services increase significantly.

The month of January is the busiest of all event planning seasons. It is when people start planning their New Year’s resolutions to spend time with family, new corporate budgets have been created, and newly engaged couples begin their wedding planning. The number of party, meeting, and wedding requests double over the month of January. The increase in event planning in January is a great opportunity for event professionals. They can start preparing for the new year and improve their business from that point forward. While January is the busiest time to plan for an event, it is also the slowest month for events to be held. The reason why the event planning cycle is different from the event cycle is because the more moderate temperatures during summer and the predictability of the weather patterns contribute to a beautiful summer event season. Successful event professionals should also be ready for any holiday season.
